• Who can applyThe Deborah L. Kosmatka Memorial Nursing Scholarship is awarded to one or more students majoring in Nursing within the College of Nursing and Professional Discipline who meet the following criteria: have demonstrated financial need and the intention to complete their nursing degree and pursue a career in nursing. First preference shall be given to those students who are the first generation of their family to earn a college degree.
• Who can applySecond preference shall be given to students whose interest is in preventative health care (which may include both traditional and nontraditional medical therapies such as yoga. acupuncture and meditation) as demonstrated by volunteer activities with the American Heart Association, the YMCA or any applicable wellness program. Also, working in some capacity with handicapped or chronically ill adults or children, either on a volunteer basis or in a paid position, may be considered a demonstration of this intent.
• Who can applyThird preference shall be made available to any qualified nursing student. Depending upon the amount of funding available , the scholarship amount may be up to $500 per year, payable at $250 per semester.
