Maryland Higher Education Commission/Tuition assistance
Edward T. Conroy and Jean B. Cryor Memorial Scholarship
Tuition and mandatory fees in Maryland for the families of service members and public safety employees killed or disabled in the line of duty. Unusually it has a minimum as well as a maximum, and it can be held for five years of full time study or eight years part time. Stepchildren are named in the statute.
Tuition and mandatory fees, bounded at both ends. It cannot exceed the annual tuition and fees of a resident undergraduate at the most expensive four year University System of Maryland institution, and it cannot be less than 3,000 dollars or your own institution's tuition and fees, whichever of those two is smaller. Holdable for five years of full time study or eight years part time.

How to apply
- 1Apply to the college, not to the stateThe statute puts the decision with each postsecondary institution: they determine eligibility and they award it. Ask their financial aid office for the Conroy or Cryor scholarship by name.
- 2Check the residency rule that applies to your routeFor the families of service members you must be a Maryland resident at the time of application or at the time of the disabling or fatal event. For the families of public safety employees killed or disabled in the line of duty there is no residency requirement at all, which people assume there must be.
