What you need
The official page does not list required documents. Check the official page before you apply, since a provider can ask for paperwork it does not publish.
How to apply
- 1Apply to the coordinating board for a determination of eligibilityThis is a separate step from applying to the college, and the statute requires it. The Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development decides eligibility on its own forms.
- 2Apply for other aid too, including PellThe statute makes applying for other financial assistance other than loans a condition of the waiver, and the waiver is used only after aid dedicated to tuition and fees runs out. Skipping the FAFSA puts the waiver itself at risk.
- 3Plan the 100 hours from September, not from springEach twelve month period starts on 1 September and needs 100 hours of community service or a public internship. Summer counts. Your institution monitors it and reports it, so it is checked rather than assumed.
