What you need

The official page does not list required documents. Check the official page before you apply, since a provider can ask for paperwork it does not publish.

How to apply

  1. 1Ask the university's registrar or financial aid officeThe statute puts the duty on the governing boards of the institutions, so the university grants it rather than a state agency. Ask before fees are due.
  2. 2If a parent was a highway worker, ask anywayThe exemption covers highway workers on transportation projects, including those employed by a general contractor or subcontractor rather than by the state. Families in that position rarely think of themselves as covered by something written for police and firefighters.
